Welcome to our school. When you drop in to see us the first people
you will meet are Mrs Kneebone and Mrs Mitchell who woman the office.
They will ask you to sign in and offer any assistance they can.
At our school Staff, Governors,
parents and the local community, work together to provide a quality
education in a friendly, caring, Christian environment. We have high
standards in everything we do; to instil in children the desire to succeed
combined with a love of learning so that they may maximise their potential
now, and in later life. We believe that children learn best in an atmosphere
of mutual trust and respect, where expectations are clear. It is our
desire that every child will grow in confidence and will expect to succeed,
whilst also learning to celebrate the achievements and wisdom of others.
Children of all abilities are provided with a rich, diverse and challenging
curriculum at Chilthorne Domer Church School.
In
addition to the requirements of the National Curriculum, we also offer
a wide range of after school clubs and extra curricular activities.
These include sporting activities, such as football and netball alongside
ICT, chess, gardening and our ever popular 'grub club'. Our children
benefit from a dedicated teaching staff that is well qualified and very
experienced. They all possess a wide range of professional skills that
are used to the full for the benefit of the children.
At our school we see ourselves as an extended family for the children,
caring for them in the same way as we would care for our own children.
Making sure they feel safe, whilst providing them with challenge. Helping
them when they are anxious, whilst giving them independence. Supporting
them in achieving their dreams, whilst helping them to keep their feet
upon the ground.
We are committed to the ideal of a partnership in education between
home and school and therefore, prospective parents are welcome to visit
the school to meet the staff and children. Please ring the office for
an appointment, if you would like a chat with me or any of the staff.
Alternatively, we can be contacted by e-mail on office@chilthornedomer.somerset.sch.uk
. I hope you will find this brochure useful. It does, however, only
provide an overview of the work we do here. To get the full flavour
of our warm, friendly environment you do need to visit us.
